Keeping Up to Date

In 1996 there were approximately 3000 pages of the Income Tax Act legislated since 1936. There are now over 9000 pages.

In order to remain abreast of the vast number of changes brought about by Government Legislation, ATO Rulings, Court Cases, every Tax Based Practice needs to have in place a system to monitor the changes that affect their clients.

Our firm accomplishes this in the following ways:

  • Staff receive direct ATO correspondence by e-mail of ATO Rulings and opinions.
  • Staff receive commentaries on every aspect of tax from the National Tax Accountants' Association, Tax Payers Association, Tax Institute of Australia and Certified Practicing Accountants.
  • Staff undertake a monthly 2 hour seminar presented by the NTAA.
  • Staff attend annual 2 day Tax Conference directly related to the preparation of all taxation returns held by the NTAA.
  • Staff attend monthly seminars presented by the Parramatta Practicing Accountants' group and supported by CPA.
  • We network with colleagues on an ongoing basis especially when 'peculiar' or unique situations arise.

Accuracy of work performed

The practice employs a Risk Management Strategy to ensure all work is accurate. It encompasses:

  • Client checklists, comparison analyses with prior year results, comparison to similar industry benchmarks, staff meetings prior to commencement of all work. and finally,
  • An internal review by another staff member of all work completed prior to lodgement with statutory authorities including the ATO.
